Strengthening Academic Communication Through Student Dialogue Forum

MAKASSAR – The Bachelor Programme in Food Science and Technology (BP FST), Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Hasanuddin University, reaffirmed its commitment to improving service quality by holding an Academic Dialogue on Saturday, September 20th, 2025. Held at the LPPM Building, the event served as a crucial forum to analyze detailed feedback and evaluate satisfaction levels across the entire academic community.

This activity is part of the study program’s efforts to continuously evaluate and enhance the quality of its educational services. By involving all stakeholders, the program strives to ensure that the academic environment and facilities provided can optimally support the teaching and learning process.

The dialogue presented detailed findings from a comprehensive satisfaction survey. Among students, while the overall sentiment was positive, the discussion focused on specific feedback where improvement is desired. Key themes emerging from student input included the need for better adequacy of facilities, improved classroom cleanliness and comfort, and greater clarity in administrative procedures.

For lecturers and educational staff, the survey data also provided specific insights beyond general satisfaction. Among lecturers, while a majority are satisfied, the survey indicated that areas such as ‘Clarity of procedures’ and ‘Institutional attention to welfare’ require more focus, with 20% and 30% of respondents respectively rating these aspects as only ‘Moderately Satisfied’. Similarly, among educational staff, feedback pointed to a need for clearer ‘Guidance from leadership’ and ‘Clarity of procedures,’ with 20% of staff providing a ‘Moderately Satisfied’ rating in each of these areas.

The Head of the Bachelor Programme in Food Science and Technology stated that this level of detailed feedback is invaluable. “Analyzing these specific data points allows us to move beyond generalities and address the core issues that matter to our students, faculty, and staff. This is the foundation for targeted and effective improvements,” she remarked.

Following up on the analysis, the study program will focus its improvement plan on renovating learning facilities, simplifying and documenting work procedures, and enhancing training and development programs. These specific measures are designed to address the detailed feedback received and strengthen the quality of services within the BPFST environment.
